RATIOS

A ratio is a comparison of two things. It's the relationship of one value compared to another.

Examples:

Density Ratio = Field Density vs Lab Compacted Density

Field Wet Density (nuke reading) = 2.125 t/m³

Peak Converted Wet Density (lab compaction) = 2.111 t/m³

Moisture Ratio = Field Moisture Content vs Optimum Moisture Content

Field Moisture Content (FMC) = 15.8%

Optimum Moisture Content (OMC) = 18.2%

This material is drier than OMC.

California Bearing Ratio = How your material compares to the standard material (crushed limestone from California)

CBR of 50 means your material is half as good at bearing a load as the California limestone

CBR 110% means your material is better at bearing a load than the California limestone
